Artist's Statement:

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, received  A.B. and M.A. degrees in Art from Stanford University, CA, and have lived in Tijeras, NM since 1970. I have drawn and painted all my life. My media are acrylic on canvas and paper, woodblock prints, watercolor, monotype and artist books. I have been included in publications such as The Acrylic Painter's Book of Styles and Techniques , by Rachel Wolf and  Who’s Who in America, Who's Who in  American Art, Who's Who, American Women, Who's Who in the West, and American Artist  Magazine, September, 1982 and June, 1987. Also Splash, America’s Best Contemporary Watercolors,  by Greg Albert and Rachel Wolf, 1991, Watercolor Magic Magazine, Winter 1996, Watercolor Magazine Fall, 1996.

Some juried shows I have been in include: Janet Turner 4th Nat'l Print Competition, California State U., Chico, CA 2002; Masterworks, Albuquerque, NM 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005; many Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Annuals, including Best of Show, San Antonio 1996; Main Street, Ft. Worth, TX, 1993; Arizona Aqueous 1990, 1991; American Artist Magazine Golden Anniversary National Art Competition and Exhibition, San Francisco, St. Louis & New York 1987; American Watercolor Society Annuals, NY 1988, 1986; Introductions '76, Albuquerque Art Museum; Richmond Art Center Painting Annual, Richmond, CA 1969, Kingsley Art Annual, Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA 1966.

The landscape has always been my primary inspiration. As a child I spent summers on my grandparents' Ohio farm and I went camping and hiking as a Girl Scout. I always loved mountains, first Ohio's gentle hills and then the grandeur of the Rockies and the West. When I was still a teen-ager I discovered the pull of the canyons and deserts and learned to love the wild places, where there is time to see and hear and think. I spend much time still in such places, hiking, camping, backpacking, skiing, river-running and I paint what I love.
